History of the Simbrah<\/a> breed<\/h1>\n

Developed in America in the late 1960s Simmental were<\/a> combined with Brahman<\/a> to produce the Simbrah breed<\/a>, which is superior in many<\/a> ways to the parent breeds. The Brahman<\/a> was chosen for heat and insect tolerance, hardiness and excellent foraging ability, as well as maternal calving ease and longevity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Simmental was chosen for<\/a> its early sexual<\/a> maturity, fertility<\/a>, milking ability<\/a>, rapid growth and<\/a> good beef<\/a> characteristics. The docile<\/a> disposition of most Simmental is also a plus<\/a> for this composite. These two<\/a> cattle breeds have been used in cooperation to produce<\/a> Simbrah cattle.<\/p>\n

The Simbrah has proven<\/a> to be highly adaptable, being able to cope<\/a> well and thrive under a range<\/a> of temperatures, thus increasing the interest in the breed worldwide. Their long<\/a> lifespans \u2013 frequently well beyond 10 years<\/a> of age \u2013 can mean significant savings<\/a> in replacement costs<\/a> for farmers.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Simbrah Characteristics<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Simbrah are a medium<\/a> sized cattle breed, taking<\/a> its characteristics from<\/a> both the Brahman<\/a> and the Simmental. They come<\/a> in various colours, and are typically red with<\/a> either white or black<\/a> and white on the face. They have a slight hump<\/a> above the neck and have slightly larger<\/a> ears than European<\/a> beef breeds.<\/p>\n
